2021 promises to be a very big year for the club with a great mixture of rookies and veterans working together to improve the quality of baseball and its provision in the Wolverhampton area. The West Midlands Baseball League is also set to change for 2021. In total 4 additional teams have applied to join the league taking the total number of teams up to 8. Long established clubs Leicester Blue Sox and Long Eaton Storm have applied along with newcomers Birmingham Metal Heads and a second Worcester Sorcerers team. It's promising to be a great summer of baseball in the West Midlands.
If you feel that you can contribute to the club in any way shape or form please contact Shaun Healy on 07912760599. The club is actively looking for players, scorers, umpires, coaches, sponsors and field maintenance personnel, or maybe you would just like to show your support on gameday? In which case get yourself down to Colton Hills on a Sunday and root for the Wolves, your support will be greatly appreciated.
There is evidence that baseball existed in Wolverhampton as long ago as the 1950's but the current club was established in April 2018. Wolves didn't take the field in a competitive game until the following year when they joined the newly formed West Midlands Baseball League.
The West Midlands Baseball League was established in 2019 and consisted of just 3 teams, Worcester Sorcerers, Stourbridge Titans and Wolves. In that first year the club finished runners up to the Titans with a 4-4 record.
The following year the WMBL welcomed the newly formed Telford Giants. The league was delayed a number of months due to the Covid 19 pandemic but when baseball finally got underway Wolves emerged as title contenders once more. Sadly it was not to be as they were beaten by a strong Telford team who ran out winners 7-4 in the league final.
